Highlights of the December 11, 2012 Board Meeting:
At 9am, the Board will honor Anthony Puga with the Employee of the Month award. As the Library Desk Supervisor for the Fairfax Branch Library, Anthony has greatly contributed to the Library’s Spanish Services blog, was instrumental in implementing new check-out procedures, and trained all staff on social media and the new circulation software. Anthony provides excellent service to everyone he comes in contact with.

The Board will honor the Sheriff's Office Investigations Division with the Outstanding Team of the Quarter Award. This team works tirelessly together to uncover, investigate, and follow every possible lead to resolve criminal cases.

The Board will confirm the appointment of Jason Weber, the interim Fire Chief of the Marin County Fire Department, as the permanent head of the 86 person department. Weber has been Deputy Fire Chief since 2010, and prior to that, a Battalion Chief -Training Officer since 2008. Weber was selected from a pool of 49 applicants and seven finalists. A reception will follow in the Board chambers lobby area.

Mike Giannini, Battalion Chief
At the request of Supervisor Adams, the Board will recognize Maggie Lang with a "Lifeboat" award. Each year, the Board honors a community resident with this award who has provided exemplary assistance to the County of Marin in the area of emergency preparedness.
The Board presented Maggie Lang with the award.
The Board will consider adopting the 2013 state and federal legislative program. This high-level policy document is designed to provide direction to County staff and advocates who are charged with advancing the County's interests in Sacramento and Washington DC.

After making minor amendments, the Board adopted the 2013 legislative plan.

The Board will consider authorizing a new collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (“IATSE”) - Local 16. The proposed agreement is consistent with the County's priorities and with other bargaining agreements that have been recently adopted.

The Board will hold its third public hearing on the proposed amendments to the County's Local Coastal Program. This hearing will focus on sections governing the built environment, socioeconomics, and other selected topics.

No formal action was taken by the Board. Further hearings on the Local Coastal Program are scheduled for January 2013.
