Preview

Lining the halls of the California Capitol are 58 glass display cases, inside of which each of the state's counties can provide a display touting their particular county. Marin’s current display was designed 15 years ago, so after hearing a staff presentation, the Board authorized a redesign of the contents of the case. 2. Repayment of Housing Loans

In 2003 and 2004 the Board accepted two loans through the California Housing Finance Agency’s HELP (Housing Enabled by Local Partnership) program in order to establish a revolving loan fund to develop and preserve affordable housing throughout Marin. In order to take advantage of low interest discounts, the Board will consider authorizing the repayment of $1.7 million in outstanding loans.

5. Countywide Plan Amendment

Preview

On September 11, 2012, the Board approved an amendment to the 2007 Countywide Plan that included minor grammatical changes, updates to flooding and land use maps, new language to further explain the role of community plans, and other minor changes. On October 2, 2012, the Board considered technical changes to three policies related to affordable housing. Per their request at that meeting, staff is returning with language to clarify that increased densities for affordable housing may be considered, on a case-by-case basis, without encouraging higher development in environmentally constrained areas. Staff recommends that the public hearing on the proposed amendment to continue on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 1:30 pm due to schedule conflict.

On September 10th, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the proposed project, a decision that was subsequently appealed to the Board of Supervisors.
