Lining the halls of the California Capitol are 58 glass display cases, inside of which each of the state's counties can provide a display touting their particular county. Marin’s current display was designed 15 years ago, so the Board will hear a presentation on a possible redesign of the contents of the case. The proposed display will show famous landmarks and vibrant images of the County.

On September 11, 2012, the Board approved an amendment to the 2007 Countywide Plan that included minor grammatical changes, updates to flooding and land use maps, new language to further explain the role of community plans, and other minor changes. On October 2, 2012, the Board considered technical changes to three policies related to affordable housing. Per their request at that meeting, staff is returning with language to clarify that increased densities for affordable housing may be considered, on a case-by-case basis, without encouraging higher development in environmentally constrained areas. Staff recommends that the public hearing on the proposed amendment to continue on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 1:30 pm due to schedule conflict.

Should the Board authorize the construction of a new telecommunication facility at Camp Tamarancho? On September 10th, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the proposed project, a decision that was subsequently appealed to the Board of Supervisors. The Board will now decide whether to authorize the installation of the proposed 50-foot tall monopine tower that would be located at the Tamarancho Boy Scout camp at 1000 Iron Springs Road, near the town of Fairfax.
