The Board honored Raquel Burcina. Her commendation reads:
Raquel Burcina handles a wide range of calls in the communications center from extremely stressful, such as an occupied vehicle submerged in water, to the routine such as noise complaints. During her five years of dispatching, there has never been a call that Raquel wasn’t ready to handle. Raquel is poised and proficient in her position and remains calm, cool, and collected during any incident, never displaying frustration or nervousness. Her peers enjoy working with her and have immense trust in her. Raquel is always at her partner’s side, assisting and providing her with the necessary help and information. Raquel does not seek recognition, and is gracious and compassionate. These qualities spill over to other Sheriff-sponsored events, such as the Marin City toy giveaway. At one community event Raquel learned of a grieving family that prompted her to raise more than $5,000 to assist them in their time of need. The Sheriff’s Office commends Raquel on displaying such excellence.
The County of Marin is equally proud to congratulate Raquel on being chosen the Employee of the Month.
