Highlights of the February 12, 2013 Board Meeting:

In an effort to adapt to the economic downturn, the County has sought to improve efforts to seek new ideas from both employees and the public. The Board will hear an update from staff on several intiatives designed to spur innovation, including an internal grants program that provides one-time funds to departments who come up with innovative new ways of saving costs.

In order to better ensure that Marin County is prepared for the next major natural or man made disaster, the Board will consider amending sections of the Marin County Code related to membership in the Marin Operational Area Disaster and Citizen Corps Council.

Should sanitary service rates be increased in portions of the Ross Valley and Central Marin? The Board is being asked to hold a hearing on the merits of these proposals at its February 26th meeting. The Marin Sanitary Service is requesting a 0.22% rate increase, equivalent to approximately 7 cents per month for a 32-gallon trash can.
