Ballot Measure on Marin Emergency Radio Authority

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 7/22/2014

The Board will consider of resolution calling a special election to be consolidated with the Nov. 4, 2014, General Election to submit to the County’s voters a measure authorizing a special parcel tax for furnishing, operating and maintaining a public safety and emergency radio communication system in cooperation with the Marin Emergency Radio Authority (MERA). The current MERA radio system is nearing the end of its useful life. Since MERA does not have authority to levy a special parcel tax to fund the next generation of equipment, the MERA Governing Board adopted a resolution on July 14 to request the County to do so on its behalf.

The Board adopted the resolution, with some revised wording, calling for the parcel tax to be placed on the ballot.
