The Board will hear a request to adopt a resolution commending Isabel Allende on receipt of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Chilean-born author of 21 books recently received the nation's highest civilian honor from President Barack Obama in recognition of her "extraordinary contributions to our country and world." Allende is a longtime Marin County resident who has served as an activist to raise awareness of immigration issues.
The Board adopted the resolution and joined with meeting attendees to give Isabel Allende a standing ovation.
