At 9 a.m., the Board will present the Employee of the Month award for December 2015 to Kara Amestoy of the Human Resources Department.
Supervisor Rice read the following:
"Kara Amestoy is the idea employee,” according to one of the nominations. She is dedicated to her work, she cares about the community she serves and her co-workers, and she “adds positive energy to her work environment … with a warm smile and welcoming attitude.” Kara regularly goes above and beyond her normal duties. She is polite, courteous and patient with employees during what may be a stressful time for some regarding their benefits, and follows through to ensure their needs are met. Kara leads a group of co-workers on a walk around the Civic Center to promote wellness and camaraderie, and she arranged a tour for the department when an employee expressed interest in Frank Lloyd Wright and the Civic Center. She also sent out personalized emails to fellow employees prior to the Employee Wellness Fair highlighting information that might be of interest to each of them.
Kara she has received several promotions and special assignments in her short time with the County and her commitment to the County and surrounding community goes beyond the Civic Center walls. When the fires this summer threatened and burned homes near her childhood home and she discovered our County fire fighters were there to help, she delivered care packages with personalized notes to say thank you for their service.
Congratulations, Kara, on being chosen Employee of the Month.
