The Board will hear a request from the Department of Public Works to receive a report on the Marin Emergency Radio Authority (MERA) Next Generation System. MERA provides crucial communications to 25 member agencies for both routine and emergency/natural disaster responses. The MERA radio communications system is the backbone of the 911 emergency response system, but it is approaching the end of its useful life. The Board approved the Next Generation System in 2015. The request for proposals was approved by the MERA Governing Board April 27 and will be distributed to potential NextGen system vendors starting May 6. Vendor proposals will be due on July 22.
The Board accepted the report.
