Plan Bay Area Update

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 10/4/2016

The Board will hear a request from the Community Development Agency (CDA) to authorize staff to submit a comment letter regarding the Plan Bay Area 2040 Draft Preferred Land Use Scenario for Marin County. Plan Bay Area represents the Bay Area's regional growth plan required to comply with several state laws. The basic strategy for implementing the plan's overarching goals is to focus future housing and employment growth in areas close to transit, services and amenities. The Association of Bay Area Government (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) recently released the Draft Preferred Scenario, an updated regional forecast for household and employment growth by the year 2040. The growth projections will be used to prepare the next update of Plan Bay Area. MTC and ABAG expect to adopt a Revised Preferred Scenario this fall. CDA is seeking Board comments and authorization to submit a comment letter to the MTC and ABAG about the Plan Bay Area update.

The Board provided direction to staff to send a letter to ABAG and MTC.
