ATOM Project Implementation Update

The Board will hear a request from the Department of Information Services and Technology (IST) to receive a report regarding the Administrative Technologies of Marin (ATOM) Project. The software project is designed to streamline the way the County’s administrative staff handles its business operations, including budgeting, accounting, and purchasing. ATOM launched with its finance modules on July 5, 2016, and IST reports that the implementation the finance phase has been successful. The status report provides updates on the continuous improvement efforts underway within the finance portion and to provide a status update on the implementation of the human capital management phase. The ATOM project is proceeding below budget thanks in part to a savings of approximately $2.7 million to date in staff backfill costs.
