The Board will hear the first reading of an ordinance amending the procedures for reasonable accommodation in the County’s land use and zoning and building regulations pursuant to fair housing laws. The Board adopted the ordinance in December 2013 to increase access to housing for individuals with disabilities and to comply with a state-mandated program of the 2007-2014 Housing Element. The Reasonable Accommodation Ordinance removes governmental constraints to the maintenance, improvement, and development of housing for persons with disabilities. The proposed amendments are intended to simplify the appeal process and align it with similar County processes. Staff from the Community Development Agency recommends that the Board schedule merit hearing for 10 a.m., April 11.
