The Board will hear a request from County Counsel to approve appropriation, up to $200,000, for partial reimbursement of attorney’s fees incurred by Point Reyes Seashore Ranchers in Resource Renewal Institute, et al. v. National Park Service, et. al. In May 2016, three groups sued the National Park Service, alleging that NPS had failed to adequately update planning documents including the Ranch Management Plan for the Point Reyes National Seashore. The Board directed County Counsel to become involved to protect the County's interests. Two groups of ranchers incurred significant legal fees in the lawsuit, and County Counsel proposes to reimburse 20 percent of the fees for a combined maximum of $200,000.
The Board approved the appropriation of partial reimbursement.
