Highlights of the January 03, 2017 Board Meeting:
At 9 a.m., the Board will convene and conduct an oath of office swearing-in ceremony for new Supervisor Dennis Rodoni (District 4). The Board will recess for a reception in the lobby following the oath.
Marin County Superior Court Judge Faye D'Opal issued the oath of office to Dennis Rodoni, and the Board recessed for a reception.

No earlier than 10 a.m., the Board will reconvene and reorganize, electing a President, Vice President and Second Vice President. Each Supervisor is expected to make remarks to start off the calendar year.
The Board elected District 5 Supervisor Judy Arnold as Board President, District 1 Supervisor Damon Connolly as First Vice President and District 3 Supervisor Kate Sears as Second Vice President.
The Board will announce the winners of the 2017 Innovation Recognition Awards – The “Inny” Awards. Modeled after the California State Association of Counties' Challenge Awards, the “lnny” Awards program is intended to recognize innovative efforts among County employees and build momentum toward additional and bolder innovations ahead. Judges looked for projects that were inventive, replicable, and represented new and effective ways of providing services to Marin residents or across County departments.
The Board issued the top award to the Community Development Agency for its sea level rise board game called the "Game of Floods." Health and Human Services, Parks and also earned awards.

The Board will conduct the first reading of an ordinance amending County Personnel Management Regulation (PMR) 34 regarding Appointment and Orientations. The revisions more clearly define the types of appointment in County employment and revises some of the rules regarding the use of these appointments. Staff recommends that the Board schedule a merit hearing for 10 a.m. January 24.
