Three youths from the Catholic Charities St. Vincent's School for Boys will address the Marin County Board of Supervisors on what's important to them, including the local availability of age-appropriate activities, living in placement and away from their families, and the looming pressures of approaching adulthood. A licensed, residential treatment home for ages 7-17, St. Vincent's offers boys housing and care that is one level under a psychiatric hospital. Many of the boys struggle with deep emotional disturbances that result from severe parental abuse — physical, sexual or emotional — as well as parental neglect. Typically, a St. Vincent's resident has lived in many foster-care households and other residential situations prior to arriving at St. Vincent's.
The Board accepted the presentation.
Every Thursday we post previews of upcoming items for the next board meeting and reviews of items from the last.
