Board agendas are posted on the Thursday prior to a Tuesday meeting usually between noon and 3 p.m. These highlights provide a quick preview for the most newsworthy items on the agenda. While it's not the full agenda, you'll find enough context and background to understand why the item was brought before the Board, the potential community impacts of a Board vote and the costs associated with the staff recommendation.

Would you like to learn more? Each highlight includes a link to a more detailed staff report on the topic. Board meetings are webcast live on our website and archived approximately 24 hours after the conclusion of the meeting. On television, meetings are aired live and on tape on Channel 27 for Comcast and AT&T U-verse subscribers.

1. County Stances on Statewide Propositions

Preview

Shortly after convening at 9 a.m., the Board hear a request from the County Administrator to consider adopting resolutions regarding propositions appearing on the November 6, 2018 Statewide Ballot. County staff generally brings forward a high-level overview on statewide measures prior to an election. Staff recommends supporting Propositions 1-3 and 12, opposing Propositions 5-6, taking "neutral” or “no position” on Propositions 4, 7-8, and 10-11. The "neutral" or "no position" recommendations are because the measure is not directly related to County government or based upon a recommendation of the Board's Legislative Subcommittee.

Review

The Board heard a staff report and discussed each proposition. The Board passed resolutions in favor of Propositions 1, 2, 3 and 12 and in opposition of Propositions 5 and 6.
