Boundaries and Levees at San Rafael Airport

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 9/18/2018

The Board will hear a request to authorize the Board President to execute a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the San Rafael Airport, LLC, regarding boundaries and levee maintenance. The airport is surrounded by levees protecting it from San Pablo Bay tidewaters. Some levees are on airport property and some are on state tidelands granted to the County. The County has funded levee repairs near the airport, but the MOU would provided that the airport would have maintenance responsibility by transferring the tidelands to the airport. Several other recommendations are made in the MOU as well. The County would pay up to $290,000 for costs associated with the land exchange but would save on future levee repairs.

The Board authorized the Board President to execute the MOU.
