Shortly after the Board convenes at 9 a.m., the Board will hear a presentation of the Merrill Award from Western Fairs Association (WFA) to the Marin County Fair. For an unprecedented sixth time, the fair won the award the most prestigious and coveted award by the Western Fairs Association, solidifying the event’s national reputation for excellence and innovation. The WFA, a 150-member trade association representing fairs in the western United States and Canada, recognizes excellence in the fair industry and provides a forum for fairs to share successful ideas and programs. The Merrill Award is given to fairs that clearly demonstrate innovation, vision, and excellence.

Preview
The Board will hear a presentation from the Marin County Resource Conservation District (RCD) on land stewardship projects on agricultural lands and urban streams. The RCD works to conserve and enhance Marin's natural resources and offers programs to facilitate conservation projects. It has administered more than $20 million in government and private foundation grants since 1983.
