Great Plates Delivered Program for Free Senior Meals

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 5/12/2020

The Board will hear a request from the Department of Health and Human Services to approve a $660,000 budget appropriation for the Great Plates Delivered pilot program for eligible older adults at high risk from COVID-19. In partnership with the local community, the County plans to start participation in the state's program  to support older adults who are sheltering in place, unable to access meals, and ineligible for other nutrition programs. The program also is a way to support local restaurants and other food providers who are struggling because of the economic downturn related to COVID-19. Staff recommends approval of the budget appropriation, approval of a master contract to apply to contracts with participating restaurants, authorization to approve contracts pursuant to the master contract, and approval of related one-time budget adjustments.

The Board approved the budget appropriation for the Great Plates Delivered program.
