Please note the following changes to our Building Permit and Inspection services in response to the Health Officer’s March 31, 2020 Order which further limits types of construction that are considered essential.

ATTENTION: All construction work shall cease and job sites shall be left in a safe and secure manner except for work that is deemed essential under the Order and approved by the Marin County Chief Building Official.

  1. Filing Applications. Please contact us by phone (415-473-6550) or EMAIL to discuss your application, submittal eligibility, and requirements.

  2. Issuing Building Permits. We are only issuing Building Permits for essential construction projects such as healthcare facilities, income-restricted affordable housing, shelters, and temporary housing. Permits for construction or repair necessary to ensure that residences and essential businesses are safe, sanitary, or habitable may be issued to the extent the work cannot reasonably be delayed.  Please contact us to discuss your project’s eligibility to be issued a Building Permit.

  3. Inspections. Field inspection services are available only for essential construction projects. Our field inspectors will comply with social distancing requirements under the Order and utilize discretion in methods for verifying compliance with codes.
