NOTICE: COVID-19 and TAX PAYMENTS

  • Executive Order N-61-20 provides a statewide framework for addressing property tax penalties for property owner’s impacted by COVID-19. Specific information about how this program will be implemented in Marin will be available June 11, 2020.
  • For public health reasons, we discourage personal visits to the Civic Center.
  • Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) and Business License due dates have not changed, however, those payments will be accepted online or by mail, only.

The Director of Finance is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. As the Chief Fiscal Officer, the Director of Finance maintains the accounts of County government, the County’s school districts, and many of the special districts within Marin County. The Director of Finance also administers the County’s major financial, budgetary, payroll, fixed asset and tax apportionment/collection systems.

The mission of the Department of Finance (DOF) is to instill the public's trust and ensure the financial integrity of the County of Marin by safeguarding the County's funds and promoting the prudent utilization of resources.
