Civic Center Drive Circulation Improvements Project
The Department of Public Works has completed extensive improvements to a half-mile stretch of Civic Center Drive's northern corridor. The finished project, which had an official ribbon cutting ceremony on May 30, 2017, provides a welcoming gateway experience that includes an accessible path for pedestrians, bicyclists and persons with disabilities from the new SMART Civic Center Station to the Civic Center Campus.
The improvements include: new sidewalks; Class 2 bike lanes in both directions; a new two-way bicycle path along the west side of Civic Center Drive, extending from the SMART rail station to the Peter Behr Drive intersection; landscaping buffers between the roadway and bicycle path/sidewalks; scenic landscaping; street lighting; way finding signage; a roundabout at Peter Behr Drive/Memorial Drive intersection with enhanced pedestrian safety improvements and improved bus transit stops.
