Vote-by-mail results available shortly after 8 p.m. election night
San Rafael, CA – If you’re excited about seeing the first returns on election night as soon as possible, make sure to bookmark the election results webpage maintained by Marin County Elections Department. Results of vote-by-mail ballots returned before November 7 will be available shortly after 8 p.m. that night.
Vote-by-mail ballots dropped off at polling places on Election Day will be processed in the days following the election. Updates to the election night results will be posted www.marinvotes.org by 5 p.m. each Friday until the count is complete.
Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts reminds voters to sign return envelopes because her office receives many ballots that haven’t been signed after every election. Her staff contacts voters who have not signed the envelope so they can cure the problem, but they must do so within eight days after the election. A ballot signature must substantially match the signature on a voter registration card, and mail ballots must be postmarked on or before election day.
If a voter decides not to mail a filled-out ballot, ballots in signed envelopes may be dropped off at the Elections Department on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. or dropped off at any polling location in Marin County before 8 p.m. Also, there is a convenient and secure drop box for ballots at the main entrance to the Marin Civic Center through 8 p.m. Election Day. The main entrance is on Peter Behr Drive under the Civic Center’s south archway.
You can use the Voter Information Portal (VIP) to check the status of your vote-by-mail ballot.
