More than 60 employers to participate in June 7 event in San Rafael
San Rafael, CA – Who’s looking for work? Is it you, a friend, a client or family member? Don’t miss the opportunity to interface with 60-plus employers at Marin County’s first free Community Job Fair on Thursday, June 7, at San Rafael’s B Street Community Center.
The event will be hosted by the County of Marin and CareerPoint Marin in conjunction with the City of San Rafael, the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Streets Team, and Homeward Bound of Marin. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fair will give visitors the opportunity to meet with professionals from industries that include construction, health care, food service, and social services. Participating employers include Peet’s Coffee, Villa Marin, Marin General Hospital, and Platt Construction.
“Job fairs are still the best way for employers to meet potential hires,” said Sherry Parr, a Social Service Program Manager with Marin County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “They give job seekers the opportunity to identify what employers want, to network with like-minded job seekers, to speak with company representatives including the ones that might not be advertised, and to test the labor market.”
Nervous about meeting potential employers? CareerPoint Marin is offering interviewing assistance in a special session prior to the job fair. Receive help from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the Marin HHS building at 120 N. Redwood Boulevard, San Rafael. For more information, call 415-473-3300. Participants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and must arrive on time.
The B Street Community Center is at 618 B Street. A no-cost lunch will be provided at the June 7 job fair as well. For more fair information, contact CareerPoint Marin’s Senior Business Coordinator Caran Cuneo at 415-473-3309 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
