Miller Creek Road to receive drainage and accessibility upgrades
San Rafael, CA – A half-mile section of Miller Creek Road, located in the Marinwood region between San Rafael and Novato, will receive a series of accessibility and drainage improvements later this summer.
In addition to the accessibility upgrades, various drainage improvements will be made, including related curb and gutter work to help with water flow during storm events. Pavement patchwork will be conducted as needed to maintain the roadway quality following the range of planned work.
The project is expected to start in mid-September and take an estimated eight weeks to complete. Construction work will take place weekdays during daytime hours. There may be intermittent lane closures, but the road will remain open at all times with traffic control. Every effort will be made to provide advanced notice and minimize disturbance to the residents in the area.
The estimated $340,000 project is being funding by $205,825 grant from Measure A’s Safe Pathways to School initiative. The remaining funding will come from the County’s Road and Bridge Rehabilitation Program.
Improving roadway conditions across unincorporated areas of Marin is an ongoing commitment of the County and one of the top priorities for the Board of Supervisors. This goal was further underlined by the 2018 countywide Resident Survey, in which 91% of residents identified infrastructure improvements, including road work, as their top priority.
